Hello fellow Internet surfer and welcome to our homepage. I'm very glad that you made it this far . . . and I hope that you'll stick around long enough to get to know just a little bit more about us and our lives. After all, these days, acquaintances that begin in cyberspace are often the most real, vivid, and long-lasting - and maybe that will be true of us. We got together on the net in August, 1997 after 57 and 61 years of marriage respectively, and were married on January 11, 1998. We had a wonderful three and a half months, when Earl had to have emergency surgery. All was going well until a week following surgery he had a stroke and three days after that had a massive stroke.

        To Continue
On the suggestion of our Doctor Earl was placed in the Oakridge Rehabilitation facility. There with the help of capable therapists he learned to talk, swallow and gain limited use of his right arm and leg. He was there from May 8th until July 17th when he was released to go home in Dublin, Indiana. We remained there until March 24, 1999 with the capable assistance of Rosalie. On advice of our daughters we came to the conclusion that we should move to the Assisted Living section of Friends Fellowship Community, 2030 Chester Blvd. Richmond, IN 47374.

                                                     Our Interests

I guess that the best - and fastest - way to really get to know us is by discovering what we like. So here goes. . . Rosalie loves to correspond with family and friends. She has some TV shows, like The Price Is Right, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and she is an avid reader with mysteries being her favorites, along with her Bible.  Earl is a computer nut, with playing bridge with people from all over the world taking much of his time. Before his strokes he did a lot of carving and still has many of his carvings on display. Both Rosalie and Earl enjoy their connections with their churches. Rosalie is a member of the Brethren Church and Earl, the Friends, where he spent 39 years as pastor and in various posts in their Central Offices in Richmond,IN.
I can tell you there is something left after asthma, and I have suffered with it for 25 years. I've gone through all the tests several times and they told me I was allergic to everything. I've even spent 21 days at the best asthma clinic in the country - Jewish National in Denver. I've used about every inhaler made and as many as four of them daily. I've taken as much as 75 mgs of prednisone a day. In June of 1999 I had a breathing test and went to my pulmonologist who had treated me for many years and he said I no longer had asthma. He then took me off all of my inhalers (I had used about all of them). He took me off of Prednisone and I had used as much as seventy-five mgs a day. Then he told me the bad news. I now had pulmonary fibrosis, which is terminal. By January 2000 I was on oxygen part of the time. At that time I bought a Chi. I began using it and in June of 2000 I took another breathing test and lo and behold it was almost up to the test of the year before.   In 2004 I saw my specialist again and he read the results of my scan and said, "I see no evidence of either asthma or pulmonary fobrosis."   I now use the Chi 25 minutes a day and my breathing continues to improve. If you are interested in finding out more email me.

                                         Links to Our Favorite Sites

Another way to really get to know someone - especially someone who spends as much time on the Internet as we do - is to learn their favorite sites:

Pogo is where we do a crossword every day and then play Euchre and Bridge
In the morning I read and answer Email and if I have time write "My Friendly Thoughts" which now number 162.  You might like to take a look at some of them at: http://homepageearl.homestead.com/Basic1.html

This wonderful music is from my friend, Brian Roger's CD "Expressions."
This is our latest picture taken 11th month, 2006.
We like it because it makes us look younger than we really are.  I'm 93 and so is Rosalie.
Can you believe it?
